Last time I sat down to type, I was preparing for my final module at the Open University and hunting for a full-time writing job. I had no idea what was coming and was balls out terrified slash excited of what was coming.
Now six months later, by day, I've delved into the world of bridal content and financial articles. By night, with my Bailey's Irish Cream in hand, I've been creating mythical creatures in an exotic garden and faced execution and immortality. I have one more project left on my course and i'll have my brand spanking bachelors degree to show off. Advanced Creative Writing has been more than I could've possibly imagined. I'm not just using the writing skills in my day job, but also my creative writing. I've met so many passionate and ambitious writers, I can barely tear myself away from my course material. As a fan of fantasy, I always knew that's where I belonged. I was never the girl who fit in, nor did I ever crave to. I lived in the realms of a Tim Burton film, listening to Lana Del Rey, when I wasn't up to my neck in fantasy fiction. Thankfully, the past 6 months hasn't just been writing fantasy stories, I had a temporary job as an In-house Copywriter and I'm now enjoying life as a freelance content writer. The next step is still hard to tell. I could be working in Advertising or I could be doing my Masters, either way I'll be spending my summer finishing my novel and hopefully tanning up on a beach with a cocktail in hand!

I'm a fully fledged movie fan as most of the millenial generation is, I guess. There is something to be said about the power of cinema. I can guarantee a few things about myself: There's nothing more magical to me than untouched snow, I will find a reason to eat a box of doughnuts (yes, I said box) and a film about New York or Los Angeles will have me grabbing my passport faster than you can say, JFK Airport.
While I wait for my latest assignment grade, I decided to take a week of TLC, before heading back into the trenches of deadlines. I once again watched Brooklyn and Cafe Society this week. Like any Woody Allen movie I was swept up in the beauty of an ordinary person living an extroadinary life. The golden age of Hollywood is as glamorous as it comes. So yes, while I watched the pool scenes and awed over Blake Lively's wardrobe, I wondered where I would live in LA...i'm hoping for a loft in West Hollywood. Tonight, I headed to the West Coast for one of my favourites, Brooklyn. I completely connected with the sense of starting again in a new place and Brooklyn has always had a special place in my heart. As a teenager, I was infatuated with Miranda and Steve's Brooklyn townhouse and $3 pizza dates. I still picture myself living jn a brooklyn brownstone, popping into Manhattan for shopping nights. What can u say, Gossip Girl, SATC, Lena Dunham's Girls and Lana del Rey's song Brooklyn Baby had a big effect on me. I have no idea where i'll end up but i'm sure i'll have some exciting stories along the way. |
