PROBLEM

Aries Bank is a FinTech Company offering a digital banking service. Users can create a bank account from their phone. They need to create a simple, easy-to-use but engaging on-boarding form for new users.

my role

I led the UX writing and onboarding content strategy for this project. My responsibilities included:
  • Audit of the existing onboarding form copy for clarity and user understanding
  • Writing concise and user-centred microcopy for labels, field instructions, error states, and confirmation text
  • Defining an onboarding flow that reduced cognitive load and guided users step-by-step
  • Working with the product designer to align content with visual hierarchy and interaction design

process

Research InsightsI began by reviewing the existing onboarding experience and identifying points where users hesitated, abandoned the form, or expressed uncertainty. Key insights included:
  • Confusing field labels (e.g., “Tax ID” vs “National Insurance Number”) caused delays
  • Long instructions deterred users from proceeding
  • Lack of inline guidance led to errors that stopped progress
I also looked at competitor onboarding flows to understand industry conventions and what clear, mobile-friendly copy looks like in real banking apps.
Ideation & User FlowsI sketched several variations of the onboarding flow. I mapped each major step and associated copy — from entering personal details to adding contact information and verifying identity.
  1. Welcome & value statement — sets expectations
  2. Personal details — with simple labels and inline hints
  3. Verification steps — microcopy that prepares users for required documents
  4. Completion confirmation — reassuring users they’re ready to bank
These flows were shared with the design team and refined in collaborative sessions.
